Richton, MS- Week #66

Good Afternoon Y'all! How is everyone doing? It is pretty hard to believe it is school time again. Time seems to always go by so fast!

SO. Y'all know the phrase 3 strikes and your out? Yeah well that should be the theme of my life this week. Apparently this was Sister Scott's week of Struggles. Hahah Yes. Struggling Scott it is real. Wanna hear the 3 strikes? Be prepared!

Strike 1) We were on our way to district meeting and we are just trucking along and then comes a TURTLE in the middle of the road (Sister Durtschi would tell you differently) and I was driving over 50 Mph and so I couldn't stop and I killed the turtle. Now she calls me the "Turtle Killer". Apparently that is my new nickname!

Strike 2) We were on the phone with our fleet coordinator, ( He runs all mission cars) Elder Edwards. He is a way funny guy, he actually served here in Sandhill with his wife as a Sr couple! Anywho, so we were just talking about our car and the multiple problems that accompany with it. To make the call less awkward, I thought it would be fun to sing a theme song as he was looking up info about our car! I started singing the Indiana Jones theme song!! hahah and Sister Durtschi started to sing with me! (It went something like this "Ba bah  bah BAH ba ba bah Ba ba ba BA ba ba ba ba BAH!)  Next thing we know Elder Edwards puts us on speaker in the mission office so all of the missionaries there can hear us! Now every single time we call or they call us they will start by singing the "Theme Song". It was super funny and made all of our days. It is the perfect song for Sandhill.  gotta have fun somehow!

Strike 3) We were having dinner with the Ishee's family on Thursday night and silly me left the keys in their truck! So..we were car less for a day. Hahaha we made it work though! They came by on Friday and dropped off the keys. We figured Blue Bell would be a fair trade and so we had ice cream with them

On a different day we saw them we were all dying of LAUGHTER! We were laughing so hard that we were crying. That is something that I miss doing, just laughing all of the time! The funny thing about all of this is the reason why we were laughing so long. Apparently everyone was laughing because of MY laugh. They just thought it was so funny and it led to tears in our eyes. Of course this led us to teach the Ishee's the "true laugh" and we just laughed some more. It was a fun day well spent with them!

So there you have it. Funny stories for the week. There is actually one more funny story that my comp shared in her email and so I will forward that to y'all because it is hilarious!

We had a little harder time this week. Sister Durtschi got sick, and then a few days later I wasn't feeling good either, it was a bummer. Here in Sandhill all of the kids are getting ready for school and so we didn't get a lot of success because everyone was busy! It is all good though! Once everyone gets in the routine of school again we will start having more success. I know that to be true! God will provide a way somehow. He always does.  I am so grateful for prayer, I am grateful we have direct communication with our Almighty Creator who LOVES us. He hears our pleas, our cries, knows our hopes, and he knows our hearts. I know he hears us. He will help us find our way!

I hope y'all have a blessed week! I hope that for all you who are starting school again will have great success and start off on the right foot. I love y'all!
Love, Sister Scott

Mom,

Here is a letter I received from my mission president this past week. Words cannot express how much this letter meant to me this time. Mom, I am truly trying to work really really hard. I have been trying to do my best in helping the Lord in His vineyard. I really do try to do it cheerfully and effectively. I definitely had my air share of experiences here in Sandhill and it really means a lot to me what president sent. Here it is word for word from his email to me. It is incredible!

Sister Scott,

Thanks for the candor in your report. You have an excellent knowledge of who you are and why you are here and that touches hearts. Thanks for your efforts in Sandhill, despite and challenges you are facing. You have been obedient and dedicated to the work, despite the obvious challenges. We continue to work hard with the attorneys to get clearance for tracting and hope that will come soon. I appreciate all that you are doing and want you to know that we cannot succeed in this work without the continuing diligent and faithful efforts of missionaries as capable as you. Thanks for all that you are doing.

Love you,

President Olson
