Sooo this week was all crazy, exciting, exhilarating, exaughsting, emotional, insane, fun ect. I could go on for dayyyss trying to explain all of the things that happened this week! First of all I wanna share some news with y'all! First the good news because I am too excited to share it and then I will share the not so good news.
So here is the good news...
MY INVESTIGATOR RACHEL GOT BAPTIZED SATURDAY NIGHT IN HATTIESBURG! IT WAS SOO AMAZING!
Lemme tell you about Rachel. We tracted into her husband this time last year! He was not all that interested at first. We taught him the Plan Of Salvation and he literally laughed at us. Fast forward about 3 weeks and that was the first time he started to PRAY for us. Then Rachel started to participate in the lessons. We showed them the Restoration video and Rachel loved it! Thomas was still not sure about it all, but Rachel was definitely changing. THEN fast forward about a month later Thomas started to read the Book Of Mormon. He can't read hardly, but we read verse by verse with him. Eventually he read pages. It was amazing! Unfortunately they didn't start coming to church when I was there but they continued to meet with the missionaries. As a result of the missionaries coming after a whole year Rachel decided to be baptized!! Something that I failed to mention was Rachel's granddaughter. She had been there through it all. She was sooo quiet. She never really opened up while I was there. The amazing thing about her granddaughter is she was baptized FIRST. I did not realize the impact we had on this family! Rachel chose to be baptized because of the example of her granddaughter Alex. She told me at the baptism that "If Alex can do it and have these changes in her life, then I can too." So what did she do? She quit smoking. She started to apply the things that the missionaries asked her to do and she CHANGED. Isn't that amazing! And now her husband Thomas will be baptized in two weeks. Y'all. I have a STRONG testimony of planting seeds. Yes it is sometimes hard to see the results of your labors, I mean, I had to wait a whole year to see it all pay off! I know that people are watching the examples we set. We may not even realize the impact until later, but we do affect more lives than we realize. Just like the prophet Alma says in chapter 32:43 about planting seeds. If we will exercise faith with ALL diligence, we will REAP our rewards.
Sister Coleman, Thomas, Rachel, McKennah, and Sister Horrocks
(These are the sisters who they are currently working with! They are some of my greatest friends! I love them to death! (:)
As for the not so good news..we found out that the tracting situation probably wont be fixed until September. We are praying that it will be fixed sooner! We are hoping maybe in August they can get it all cleared up! Please pray that it will be! We have so many potentials here in this area we know we are to find!
We also got to do a lot of service this week! We helped a less active clean her house! We spent a good 6 hours doing that one day and it was a lot of work, but I know she really appreciated it! We also made and delivered cookies with a member..which resulted in a Cookie dough fight!! Sister Durtschi would tell you differently...but she started it! We had a blast! It was soo much fun! We also got to go to the nursing home! We are learning how to make "Mississippi Snowballs"! It is a neckalce and we will be making about 12 of those for the ladies there. They are not easy to make, but I am learning how anyways! This week was all about service! It was awesome!
There you have it! That is basically what our week consisted of. We had a lot of fun! I will attach the pictures and the talk by Elder Oaks because it didn't work last week. I hope y'all have a blessed week! Thanks for all of your support and love! I love you!!
Love, Sister Scott
