Farewell, Mississippi Jackson Mission. McKennah's Farewell Testimony.

Y'all I am sooo beyond grateful for this time that I have had to serve the Lord. We are pretty sure we wont have any time to email next week and so I figured I would give one more email of my testimony before I go home and see y'all again.

I am soo grateful for this experience that I have had to serve the Lord. It is hard to express it in words what that has been like for me. Hard to explain how it felt to be rejected at the doors of so many people, or to be loved beyond compare by the members of your ward/branch, or to sit in a lesson with your investigators and they have a big A-HA moment and they understand the message we share, or the times spent on my knees with my companion praying for the needs of those we are teaching. It is hard to explain all of those things with the right words, and an accurate definition of what it is like to be a missionary to dedicate my time to the Lord. I just want to bear y'all my testimony that I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know it. I know that he is the head of this church. I know that he loves His children, and that Heavenly Father loves us as well. I know that the lessons that we learn in this life is for our benifit and to help us progress more in the next life. They want us to be happy! That is their work, that is the ultimate reason why God continues to bless us with many blessings. I know that the trials and tribulations we face are for OUR GOOD. It truly reconciles us to God as we go through them. I know that the Book Of Mormon is the word of God. It brings peace in this life and helps us to prepare for eternal life to come. I am so grateful for these experiences and I look forward to the many experiences I will continue to have over the course of my life.

This mission has taught me all of these things that I know to be true, and it has taught me so much more. I invite all of those who are thinking about serving a mission to go. It will change your life. It is hard at times, many times. But it is also brings so much Joy and the joy you will feel is what makes up for all of those harder times you face on a mission. I love y'all! I can't wait to see you soon!

Love,
Sister Scott

Florence, MS- Week #82

What McKennah says every missionary needs to survive

Hey Y'all! How has everybody's week been? Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving? I hope so! This week has been a pretty great week!

We have been doing pretty well in the office! We have been filing lot of papers for the senior couples, creating the line up for the zone conference pictures, and also creating spreadsheets for the missionaries in each zone of more service opportunities as well! I think Sister Williams and I have made a great team and we are doing well together!

This week we have put a lot of focus on the needs of the sisters in our zone. We went on quite a few exchanges here in the Jackson Zone. On Monday we went with the Madison Sisters! (Sister Bartsch and Sister Makin)! Unfortunately I couldn't go with sister Bartsch because of some circumstances that came up, but Sister Makin is awesome! She is one powerhouse of a missionary! We went and had dinner with a member and they had their investigator John and he is preparing to be baptized on January 3rd! It was so fun for me to have had the opportunity to teach the Word Of Wisdom, and Tithing and Fast Offerings. He is truly an honest seeker trying to do what His Heavenly Father would have him do. He was open-minded and knows that this is the true church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. It was an honor to meet him! He was soo cool!

Wednesday We went with the Clinton Sisters (Sister Mellor and Sister Alvey) Sister Mellor is a former companion that I served with back in Ruston, LA in my second area! I went on an exchange with her and we just reminisced about all of the fun times we shared and the people we taught! It was really fun! She reminded me of some funny stories that I had forgotten. We went to have a dinner appt with one of the members of the Clinton Ward. We got to teach another lesson together! We just got in the rhythm again! It was awesome! And then we talked to a man for about an hour, he wasn't too interested, and then walked home for the evening! We had a blast! I love her so much! I was lucky to serve with her for a time!

Thursday we went with the Mendenhall Sisters (Sister Pitt and Sister Frandsen)! They have just opened up this area and so they are still trying to get the hang of things! I once again got to have more free food and and I got to be part of another lesson with somebody who would like to be baptized as well! His name is Jonah and he is an awesome kid! He is about 14 years old and is an absolute genius! He loves the gospel and plans to be baptized in January as well! We talked about the importance of Obedience and keeping God's commandments. That is one of my favorite lessons to teach. It was great! Then afterwards Sister Williams and I drove home and called it a night.

Friday we went to the office again to finish up some last minute work before the weekend comes around and we made some visits in the Jackson area. It was a fun day! We also started packing some things up, there is a new senior couple who will be coming to our mission, we had to move some missionaries around so we could give them a place to live temporally until they find a place to live in Jackson Branch area. We are excited to have them here with us!

Saturday we just went to Jackson again! We visited some more less actives, it was a little bit harder to catch people today! That was crazy. We had a great day though!

Sunday was our last day in the Jackson Branch.:( I have been getting attached to the people here! It was a sad goodbye, we just were not there long enough! I love the people here in Jackson. I have been so lucky to serve with them and for them. We also watched the Christmas Devotional with the Newell's family. I loved it! Chirstmas time is such a happy, merry and joyful time. I wish everyday everyone would be this happy as we are when we celebrate the birth of Christ!

Well y'all, that was my week. It was a busy week but we had a great time! We are just trying to soak up this time that we have left to serve the Lord. I love him and  I love this work. I am looking forward to see y'all very soon. Have a blessed week!
