I have absolutely enjoyed every minute of that skype! Thank you for making me miss life at home so much! For raising me in a home with awesome brothers and always providing us with everything we need. I am so grateful for you both! I have been reflecting this week on how amazing the atonement is. I am grateful for Jesus Christ and the role he plays in each of our lives. I was thinking about the "mantle of Protection" that I have been blessed with when I was set apart. I was thinking to myself when I go home (in almost 11 months) Will I recognize a difference when I am released? I hope that I am giving it my all out here. I am doing my absolute best to help those that I am serving. I have seen a change in my personality. It will be weird to interact with family and friends back at home and then be different. I was shocked when ya'll thought I wasn't different, I feel like I have learned so much out here and I want to keep learning! There are a couple quotes I read this past week that have helped me this week. One of them is a "vision of the south". Sister Kendall gave this to me and I agree 100%. This is my hope for the south! and the other is a Jeffery Holland quote.
VISION OF THE SOUTH
at mlc president olson gave us this paper that has the vision of the south! its from Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone and its really cool ill write some out, its so motivating and we already see some of it happening!
"This is the vision I have for the south. I believe that one day the south will baptize more people into the church than all other english speaking missions in the world together. there are great hosts of marvelous baptists, and members of the Church of Christ, Methodists, and catholics who are honorable people, and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and love Him. as they see their church veering off to the right and to the left of those basic teachings, they will begin to search for the truth. and as pivotal teachers come into the Church and have influence, we will see the time when we will baptize hundreds and thousands, tens of thousands. In your day you will see a million members of the church in the south. There will be temples plural in the southern states. what a great call you have to serve with these marvelous people."
isn't this awesome?! I love this one. it is so true. These people are hard-headed now, but they will realize and will want to know the truth one day. here is Jeffery Holland quote!
MISSIONARY WORK
This is hard work. It is the hardest work you will ever do. That’s why I say this is the most important work you will ever do. I think those two go together. It’s hard work, but every day, in every way, it will get better, and you will feel the Spirit of the Lord. You’ll know He loves you, and the language will come, and baptisms will come, and you will make new friendships, both with your companions and with investigators and with ward members and branch members and people with whom you serve. And someday, sometime, you will come back, husbands and wives, you will come back and preside over these missions, or you will send your sons or your daughters to serve in the same missions. You will tell them stories of those legends of your life in the mission field. - Elder Holland
No pics this week! Sent to me by a member. This is McKennah making clover for Seussical the Musical! Love that smile!!!!
Happy 2016!!
I hope ya'll have been doing great! I cannot believe that 2015 is over, it ended so quick. I am so grateful for this time of the year for new beginnings, new goals, and ambitions. This has been such a fun year for me, but I am excited to see what the new year brings! As you know, I was able to skype my family and it was the cooliest thing ever! It was so surreal to me, to see their faces and talk with them. I love my family so much!
These last couple weeks have been crazy! We have been all over the place! Unfortunately, Sister Mellor and I went tracting this week for 8 hours but NOT A SINGLE NEW INVESTIGATOR! It was pretty sad to be honest..please pray that we will find new people to teach! We do have some newer investigators that have been doing pretty good, but it is always nice to have more people to teach. This transfer is about over and I am so grateful for all of the things that I have learned. It has been the hardest transfer so far, but I definitely need the growth that I gained from this transfer.
Sister Mellor and I have been meeting with this excommunicated lady, her name is Sharon. When we first met her, she was super stand off-ish. She did not want to talk with us at all, but we went up anyways! I told Sister Mellor we should go talk with her and she said "No she asked us to leave" and I said "all we have to do is listen". And that is exactly what we did. We just sat there and listened to her concerns that she had about the church. We didn't preach at her or told her that she was wrong, we just listened. Sister Mellor and I decided we would rake her leaves one morning with out her knowing and she was super happy and grateful for our service. She eventually went out of town for Christmas and planned to come back just a couple days ago. So again, Sister Mellor and I decided to serve her and we heartattacked her house as a "welcome home". Then her son came up to us today and said thank you for the hearts and told us they had a gift for us! It is so amazing to see her heart slowly change, to see her mighty change of heart towards us. Our little actions resulted her wanting to investigate the church again. How cool is that?! I am so grateful for the love my father in heaven blessed me with. It is a gift I think I was given when I was younger. It has been a blessing in my life and mission.
I have a testimony of Christlike love. It has been manifested to me I don't know how many times in my life. God loves us individually, and personally. God puts people in our lives for a reason, lets love them, serve them in all we do. I love ya'll! Thanks for the constant support! I can't wait to hear from you all next week! With all my love,
Sister Scott
